Armanaz Social Housing

Arma Social Housing is located on the edge of Armanaz in Idlib, Syria, and was commissioned by a non-profit organization to provide housing for widows and orphans alongside vocational workshops and private storage spaces. The design prioritizes safety, privacy, and community cohesion for resident families. Clear separation between residential and workshop access is achieved both horizontally and vertically, with the building acting as a physical buffer between the private residential garden and the workshop yard. Community life is fostered through semi-private terraces and shared circulation spaces that accommodate communal facilities and informal interaction. To maximize the number of families housed without compromising spatial quality, the project develops vertically. The linear mass is articulated into four smaller volumes to improve daylight access and ensure each unit benefits from multiple orientations, enhancing comfort and liveability.
